
UT Starts Spring Season With Sixth Place Finish
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team began its spring season with a sixth place performance at the Titan Winter Invitational. The event was hosted by Brevard Community College at Sun Tree Country Club.
Brevard won the event with a score of 898 (+34) as the Spartans shot a 918 (+54). Webber, Florida Tech, Darton CC and Central Alabama CC occupied the two through five spots as Tampa outshot Northwood, Southeastern and Faulkner State CC.
After an opening round score of 302, UT had its best round with a 299 in the middle round. The second round was cut short on day one due to the weather as the final two holes were completed on Tuesday morning. The Spartans finished the competition with a 317 in round three.
Kris Shane was UT's top performer, finishing at +7 with a 223. His best showing was a 72 in round two. Kyle Roy led all golfers with a 71 in the second round, and finished at 232 (+16). Roy ended in a tie for 27th place. Nicolas Jutigny also clubbed a 232 to join Roy.
Other Spartans who competed were Chad Bouchard (238, +22), Ryan Barnett (239, +23), Weston Parrish (239, +23), Eric Snow (240, +24), Charlie Green (247, +31), Josh Detmer (249, +33) and Rich Marabella (261, +45).
Tampa is back in action on Monday when it travels to Lake Wales for the Webber Invitational.
