UT Second After First Day Of Spartan Invitational
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team is in a second-place tie following one round of play at the annual Spartan Invitational. The Spartans shot a 299 in the opening round as the event is being hosted by UT at Rogers Park Golf Course.
Saint Leo University occupies first-place after a 284 in the first round, opening up a 15 stroke lead on Tampa and Eckerd College (299). Webber International is fourth after shooting a 301.
Freshman Quin Trigg and sophomore Scott Serwa led UT as each registered an even 71. The duo ended play in a third place tie. Kris Shane shot a 75 to finish the day in 14th place as Kyle Roy was in a 17th place tie with a 76.
Other Spartans to compete were Charlie Green (21st, 77), Eric Snow (21st, 77), Nicolas Jutigny (24th, 78) and Josh Detmer (28th, 79).
The final round will begin on Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
