Spartans Wrap Up Fall Season
OCOEE, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team concluded its fall season with an 11th place showing at the Rollins College Invitational. The Spartans shot an 899 at Forest Lake Golf Course.
UT shot a 295 in the first and third rounds with a 299 in the second. Nova Southeastern won the 15 team event with a final score of 845. Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponents Barry (3rd), Lynn (4th), Rollins (5th), Florida Southern (6th), Florida Tech (9th), Saint Leo (10th) and Eckerd (14th) also competed.
Tampa's top golfer was junior Kris Shane, who finished with a 215 (-1). The Ruskin, Fla., native opened with a 73 and enjoyed UT's top individual round with a 70 in the second. He finished with a 72 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a 17th place tie.
After being the medalist at the Saint Leo Invitational, junior Nicolas Jutigny finished in a 31st place tie with a score of 219 (+3). Jutigny shot a consistent 73 in each of the three rounds.
Kyle Roy ended competition in a 36th place tie with a 221 (+5). He wrapped up play with a 72, marking his top round of the tourney. The Spartan lineup also included Quin Trigg (T-69th, 234) and Scott Serwa (74th, 243).
Also competing for Tampa as individuals were Eric Snow and Charlie Green. Snow shot a 74 in each of the first two rounds and closed play with a 77 for an overall score of 225. Green shot a 243 for the event.
