Tampa Defeats Pair of Division I Opponents In Mission Inn Spring Fling
HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team notched its fourth straight top-10 finish with a seventh place showing at the Mission Inn Spring Fling. The event was hosted by St. John's University and played at El Campeon Golf Course.
The Spartans finished with a 622 following rounds of 314 and 308. Saint Leo University was the top overall team (598) as UT scored better than both St. John's and the University of Connecticut.
Kyle Roy led all Spartans while finishing in a 10th place tie. The junior from Syracuse, N.Y., responded to an opening round 81 with a 71 to conclude play. He ended competition with a 152 (+10).
Kris Shane was 18th with a 154 while Eric Snow (161), Taylor Noel (161) and Nicolas Jutigny (162) rounded out the top five for the Spartans. Kevin Genuardi (163) and Quin Trigg (170) also participated for head coach Rick Christie's team.
Tampa travels to Muscle Shoals, Ala., on Sun., Mar. 28 for the North Alabama Invitational. The event will last through Mar. 30.
