
Tampa Finishes Second At North Alabama Spring Classic
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished second at the North Alabama Invitational, competing in a field of 17 schools.
The host school, North Alabama, finished first overall after shooting a three-round score of 873 (+9). The Spartans shot an 887 after shooting rounds of 300, 289 and 298. Northern Kentucky (889), Drury (898) and Lindenwood (906) rounded out the top five.
Tampa had three golfers in the top 10 as Taylor Noel, Kris Shane and Nicolas Jutigny each found a spot among the top finishers. Noel led the Spartans with a 220 (+4) to finish sixth. Shane fired a 221 (+5) to place ninth as Jutigny was 10th with a 222 (+6). Each of the three also turned in team best rounds of 71.
Kyle Roy turned in a 15th place finish with a 224 as Parker Wingfield (242) and Quin Trigg (245) also competed for the Spartans.
The Spartans will travel to Miami Beach, Fla., for the Barry Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The event is the final competition prior to the Sunshine State Conference and NCAA Championships.
