Spartans Notch Third Place Finish at Webber Invitational
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team competed at the ninth annual Start 2 Finish Tournament, hosted by Webber International University, and came away with a third-place finish.
The Spartans finished with a three-round score of 917 (+65). The top round for UT came in the second with a 303. Tampa finished with a 304 after opening with a 310 on Sunday at Lake Wales Country Club.
Jason Steele and Helder Alves led the Spartans as each finished in the top 10. Steele was sixth overall as the freshman was consistent with a 76 in all three rounds to finish at 228, or +15. Alves followed in seventh place with a 229, or +16. Alves also registered the top round for UT as the senior carded a 73 on Monday.
Also competing for Tampa were Myles Wharram (233), Zach Schuster (234), Taylor Noel (235), Bobby Ray (239) and Axl Ismail (251). Wharram and Schuster were among the top-20 at 14th and 19th respectively.
Tampa returns to action on March 4-5 at the Warner Invitational at Sun and Lake Golf Course in Sebring, Fla.
