
Tampa Plays to Sixth Place Finish at Panther Invitational
PALM BAY, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team played to another top-10 finish as it was sixth at the Florida Tech Panther Invitational at The Majors Golf Course.
The Spartans shot rounds of 322, 294 and 314 to finish at 930, or +66. Saint Leo University won with a 900, followed by Florida Tech and Brevard College. West Georgia and Montevallo rounded out the top five.
Senior Taylor Noel turned in his second top-two performance of the season as he finished in a second-place tie, just one shot off medalist Dalton Skinner (Montevallo). Noel carded a three-round score of 217 (+1). His top round was a 70 on Tuesday, which also marked the top overall score for the final round.
Freshman Jason Steele was 18th, shooting a 230. His top round was a 70, which occurred during Monday's second round of play.
Also golfing for head coach Rick Christie's squad were Bobby Ray (239), Helder Alves (241) and Zach Schuster (252).
UT will hit the links one last time before the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Championships as it will play at the Barry Invitational on April 1-2. The three-round event will be played at Normandy Shores Country Club in North Miami, Fla.
