Spartans Trek to North Alabama for Golf Tournament
KILLEN, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's golf team was 14th at the North Alabama Invitational. The three-round tournament was played at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
Tampa finished with a 963 after respective rounds of 328, 315 and 306. Host North Alabama won the tournament with a total score of 874.
Jason Steele was Tampa's top performer, shooting a 235 to finish 47th overall. Myles Wharram stayed close with a 237 as Zach Schuster (245), Chris Clarke (250) and Will Monnery (252) also golfed for head coach Rick Christie.
Steele and Wharram posted the top rounds by a Spartan as Steele fired a 76 in the third round. Wharram also shot a 76 in Monday's second round.
The Spartans are back in action on Oct. 28-29 at the Rollins Invitational. The event will be played at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando.
