
Spartans Play to Fifth Place Finish at Panther Invitational
PALM BAY, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished fifth at the Panther Invitational, which was hosted by Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Tech at The Majors Golf Club.
Tampa shots rounds of 316, 303 and 320 to finish at 939 (+75). Host Florida Tech took the team championship with an 894. FIT's Ray Badenhorst was the medalist with a 213 (-3), winning by six strokes.
The Spartans were led by Myles Wharram, who notched a 74 in the first two rounds and finished in seventh place with a 228 (+12). Zach Schuster (235) and Chris Clarke (236) finished in the top-20 at 18th and 19th respectively.
Also competing for head coach Rick Christie were Will Monnery (242), Patrick Fereday (246) and Jason Steele (251). Grant Heelan and Jerome Bostwick also golfed, but only completed two rounds.
Wharram's rounds of 74 matched the best rounds by a UT golfer in the tournament, as Schuster and Monnery also carded a 74 in the second round.
The Spartans are back in action on March 31-April 1 at the Barry Invitational at Normandy Shores Country Club in North Miami, Fla.
