Spartans Conclude Season at SSC Championships
DADE CITY, Fla. - Playing in one of the premier league tournaments in the nation, the University of Tampa men's golf team played to a ninth-place finish at the 2014 Sunshine state Conference Championships at Lake Jovita Country Club.
The three-day, three-round event featured several nationally-ranked teams as the Spartans turned in a score of 942 (+78). Barry University captured the SSC Championship with an 845 (-19) as Buccaneer Adam Svensson was the medalist with a 209 (-7).
The Spartans turned in respective scores of 311, 309 and 322.
Chris Clarke led UT with a score of 229 (+13), which put him in 30th place. Clarke fired consistent rounds of 75, 77 and 77 as his first round effort was the top individual round for Tampa.
Zach Schuster followed with a 238, as the Spartan lineup also included Myles Wharram (238), Jason Steele (241) and Will Monnery (244).
The Spartans wrap up a 2013-14 season that saw three top-five and five top-10 team performances. Head coach Rick Christie also looks to return his entire lineup next season.
