Spartans Finish in Top Half of Warner Invite
SEBRING, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team placed fourth at the Fifth Annual Warner Invitational. The three-round event was played at Sun 'N Lake Golf Club, and hosted by Warner University.
The Spartans clubbed scores of 302, 308 and 298 to finish at 908 (+44). Sunshine State Conference opponent Barry University won with an 869 (+5), followed by Webber International and Palm Beach Atlantic.
Justin Elwell carded a three-round score of 224 (+8) to lead all Spartans. Elwell finished in 12th place. Danny Syring also placed in the top-20, totaling a 228.
Also golfing in the UT lineup were Gray Barnes (231), Jason Steele (235) and Steve Embree (238). The Spartan individuals included Bobby Ray (234), Grant Heelan (236) and Will Monnery (244).
Tampa returns to the links on March 23-24 at the North Alabama Invitational. The tournament will be played at the Robert T. Jones Golf Course in Mussel Shoals, Ala.
