Spartans Close 2016 Season at SSC Championships
Gray Barnes finished play with a top round of 72 on Wednesday.
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished eighth overall at the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Men's Golf Championships.
Lynn University claimed its second consecutive and fourth overall SSC golf championship. The Fighting Knights' Manuel Torres shot 3-over for the tournament to bring home the individual championship. The 2016 event was hosted by Barry University at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne.
Tampa shot a three-round score of 995, with respective rounds of 337, 333 and 325. The tournament included a round on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Leading the Spartans was Gray Barnes, who finished 27th overall. Barnes shot a total of 239 and ended play with a 72 in round three to mark the top overall round for all Spartans.
Also competing for head coach Rick Christie's squad was Jacques Celestino (246), Zach Schuster (251), Justin Elwell (263) and Jason Steele (264).
