
Spartans Finish Fall Season at Rollins Invitational
ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team competed in its final tournament of the fall, placing 14th at the McDonough Cup. The three-round event was hosted by Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins College at Rio Pinar Golf Club.
The Spartans fired rounds of 290, 290 and 297 to come in at 877 (+13). Fellow SSC opponent Lynn University won the team title with an 836 as Florida Southern College and Saint Leo University both finished in the top-five.
Justin Elwell shot a pair of team-best rounds of 71 as he finished with a 215 (-1) to place 22nd overall. Jason Steele (220), Zach Schuster (221), Danny Syring (225) and Gray Barnes (226) also played in the Spartan lineup.
Also golfing for UT was Jonathan Buller (225), Jacques Celestino (234) and Bobby Ray (151, two rounds).
With the fall season complete, UT will resume play in the second semester with five spring tournaments on its slate, plus postseason play. Tampa starts the spring on February 8-9 at the Eastern Florida State College Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
