Bendert Leads Spartans at Matlock Classic

LAKELAND, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's golf team registered a 12th-place finish at the Matlock Collegiate Classic.

• Hogan Bendert | 39th overall, 234 (+18)
• Trey Fessler | 51st overall, 237 (+21)
• Alex Mercier | 55th overall, 238 (+22)
• Aadam Syed | 68th overall, 243 (+27)
• Bo Wardynski | 76th overall, 248 (+32)

OTHER NOTABLES:

• Bendert shot a pair of 77 rounds with a second-round score of 80.
• After opening with an 84 on Monday, Fessler carded a team-best 75 in round two with a 78 in Tuesday's round.
• Head coach Gary Hilton did not register any individuals.
• A total of 14 teams competed.
• Other SSC schools joining UT and host Florida Southern (7) were Lynn (2), Barry (4), Nova Southeastern (5), Saint Leo (8), Eckerd (11), Palm Beach Atlantic (13) and Embry-Riddle (14).
• Team champion West Florida won by 28 strokes over Limestone and Lynn.
• UWF's Alejandro Restrepo was the medalist with a 214 (-2).

The Spartans will head to Viera, Fla., for the Space Coast Collegiate Championship on March 21-23 at Duran Golf Club.
