
Freshman Jonathan Garbely Leads Spartans With Top-10 Finish
DADE CITY, Fla. - At the Saint Leo Invitational held at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Florida, the University of Tampa men's golf team had a notable performance, finishing in 8th place out of 20 participating teams. The event took place over February 19th and 20th, 2024, challenging competitors with a par-72, 7,054-yard course.

Individually, Tampa golfer Jonathan Garbely stood out with an impressive performance, tying for 9th place with scores of 72, 67, and 71, finishing at 6-under-par with a total of 210.
Leonardo Bono and Alex Mercier also delivered commendable performances for Tampa. Bono finished tied for 34th place with scores of 71, 70, and 76, totaling 217 and landing at 1-over-par. Mercier matched his teammate's total score and par standing with rounds of 73, 72, and 73, demonstrating the depth of talent within the Tampa team.
Garrett Tighe and Jonty Marshall contributed to the team's efforts with Tighe tying for 70th place with a total score of 223 (+7) and Marshall tying for 72nd place, scoring 224 (+8). Kyle Honer rounded out Tampa's representation, tying for 79th place with a score of 227 (+11), competing as an individual for the Spartans.
UT returns to action on March 11-12 at the Southeastern Collegiate in Valdosta, Ga.
