Alex Mercier Leads Tampa Men's Golf at SSC Championships
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Tampa was led by senior Alex Mercier at the 2024 SSC Men's Golf Championship. The Spartans finished ninth at the event hosted at Osprey Point Golf Club
Barry University clinched the title. Over the three-day event, Barry showcased a consistent performance across Raven and Falcon courses, securing a team score of 846, 18 strokes under par, to edge out Nova Southeastern by two strokes.
As a team, the Spartans had a total score of 872, which was 8 strokes over par.
Alex Mercier, who tied for 9th place with a score of 211, finished three rounds at 5-under-par. Mercier's consistent rounds included scores of 70, 68, 73.
Other notable performances included Brendan Dunphy and Jonathan Garbely, both tying for 26th place with scores of 219, 3 over par.
Kyle Honer and Jonty Marshall rounded out head coach Gary Hilton's lineup scores of 225 and 227, respectively.
Michael Hay of Nova Southeastern emerged as the individual champion with an impressive score of 205, 11 under par, demonstrating his prowess across all three rounds (66, 67, 72).
