
Tampa Men's Golf Completes Season at Second Straight NCAA Tournament
GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Under the direction of head coach Gary Hilton, the University of Tampa men's golf team competed at the 2024 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional.
The Spartans would finish 12th-overall at the three-round tournament that was played at Chattahoochee Golf Club.
Freshman Jonathan Garbely led the Spartans in his final event of the season, hovering around the top-10 and finishing in a 32nd-place tie. His top round came in Friday's second round, where he carded a 69. He would finish at 221 (+5) with a first round score of 75 and third round 77.
Garrett Tighe followed in the 40th position, coming in at 222 (+6). Jonty Marshall and Alex Mercier also concluded their Tampa careers with respective scores of 225 (+9) and 227 (+11).
Brendan Dunphy opened with a first-round 75, but was unable to compete in the second round. His replacement, Alejandro Quintero, would register a 73. Dunphy returned to the links on Saturday, finishing with a 73.
This marks the completion of the 2023-24 season, which marked the first time since 1988 that the Spartans were selected to consecutive NCAA tournaments.
