Times and Seeding Set for Conference Lacrosse Championships
TAMPA, Fla - For the second time in two seasons, head coach Rory Whipple has lead the University of Tampa men's lacrosse team to the Deep South Conference regular season championship, earning the top seed in the South Region of the DSC Tournament, which takes place this week.
The Spartans will face the winner of the Florida Southern-Saint Leo game on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. Florida Southern and Saint Leo will meet on Tuesday in St. Leo, Fla.
The Spartans split their two meeting against their potential opponent defeating Florida Southern 12-7, but fell to Saint Leo 8-7 in overtime. Florida Southern defeated Saint Leo 13-5 in the regular season matchup last Saturday.
The conference is divided into the north and south regions. Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Wingate make up the north region, while Florida Southern, Florida Tech, Rollins, Saint Leo, and Tampa are in the south region. Only the top three teams in both regions make the tournament.
In the North Region, Catawba will host Wingate in the opening round game Tuesday at 8 p.m. The winner of that game will take on Lenoir-Rhyne, which received a bye, Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The winner of each region will play for the DSC Championships on Sunday at Rollins, at 1 p.m.
