Tampa Men's Lacrosse Ranked Fifth in USILA Poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team has been ranked fifth in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) poll. This is the highest preseason ranking the Spartans have earned since the 2017 season when they were ranked fourth to begin the season.
The Spartans finished last season with a final record of 15-6, as they fell to eventual National Runnerup Limestone in the NCAA Quarterfinals. In the 2019 season, UT claimed its sixth consecutive Sunshine State Conference tournament championship. The Spartans return two players who were named to the All-Tournament team as Ross Dickerson and Bryan Wright will look to lead UT to another title. Dickerson earned Most Outstanding Player for the second consecutive year.
Two other Sunshine State Conference foes are represented in the top-20, as Lynn University is ranked 16th and Rollins College is ranked 17th. Florida Southern College and Florida Tech are receiving votes in the poll. UT will face five teams ranked in the preseason ranking, with the first of those matchups coming on March 4th, as they will face off against third-ranked Adelphi University.
Tampa will begin the 2020 season next Saturday as they will welcome in Queens College of Charlotte into the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex.
