Defensive Juggernaut Stymies Saint Rose's Offense

TAMPA, Fla. – The fourth-ranked University of Tampa Spartans men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to six games against Saint Rose University.

How It Happened: 

First Quarter|| The Spartans came out hot in the first quarter with a total of 17 shots while maintaining possession for most of the quarter. Sophomore Luke McAnaney was a spark for Tampa netting two of the four goals. The other two goals were scored by Owen Miller and Richie Holle. || 4-0 Tampa 

Second Quarter || Tampa added two more goals to extend their lead; the goals came from the sticks of Harry Kilkowski and Collin White. The Spartans defense held Saint Rose to only two shots in the quarter. Goalie Alexander Starr had a pretty light half, facing only one shot on goal, which he saved.|| 6-0 Tampa

Third Quarter || The Spartans continued to show their offensive dominance by adding four more goals to their lead. Senior Devon Hess recorded his first career goal after winning the faceoff and marching right down the middle of the field to find the back of the net. || 10-1 Tampa 

Fourth Quarter || Tampa secured the game by scoring three more in the last quarter of play. The final goals were from Cabry Hildman, Jack Baldwin, and Neil Calkin. Saint Rose managed to muster two goals in the fourth quarter. || 13-3 Tampa 

Inside the Stats:

• The Spartans four goalies combined for six saves.
• There was a total of 46 shots and 24 shots on goal.
• The Spartans won 16 of 20 faceoffs.

Up Next: The Spartans next game is at home this Wednesday at 8 p.m. The game will be played at Pepin Stadium against Mount Olive University.
