No. 2 Tampa Defeats No. 16 Florida Tech in 2OT Thriller
TAMPA, FL. – The No. 2 ranked University of Tampa Spartans men's lacrosse team would defeat the No.16 Florida Tech Panthers in a double overtime thriller at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST QUARTER
The first quarter would open with a defensive battle between the two teams. The Panthers would open the scoring with a goal about four minutes into the quarter. The Spartans started slow, and found themselves in a two-goal deficit with seven minutes left in the first. With 25 seconds left, Colin White cut into the Panthers lead going into the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
The second quarter would begin similarly to the first, with both teams playing excellent defense. The Panthers opened the scoring once again, but the Spartans had an answer for that, with Luke McAnaney scoring late in the quarter.

THIRD QUARTER
Tampa would come out of halftime with new life. The Spartans offense would get started about five minutes into the quarter, and score two goals with one minute of each other to cut into the Panthers' lead. With three minutes left, the Spartans offense surged and got within two goals of the lead.

Both teams would go back and forth in an evenly matched fourth quarter. The Spartans would open the scoring in the fourth quarter, pulling within one goal of the Panthers. The Panthers answered though, to bring the goal deficit back to two. The Spartans would end up tying the score at 5:50 with a goal by Daniel Fitzpatrick to force the game into overtime.
