Spartans Ranked 6th in the Nation by USILA
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team comes in ranked sixth in the nation in week six of the USILA Coaches Poll.
The Spartans' success this season has stemmed from solid defensive play. The defense is led by recurring SSC Defensive Player of the Week Blake Ulmer, who has recorded 75 saves on the season so far. Veteran long-stick midfielder and SSC Male Athlete of the Year Matthew Beddow also fuels the Tampa defense, causing eight turnovers and recording 16 groundballs thus far. The Spartan offense has netted 85 goals this season, with Daniel Fitzpatrick and Canyon Birch combining for 23 goals.
The Sunshine State Conference is well-represented as four teams rank in the top 20, Tampa (6), Rollins (7), Florida Tech (15), and Florida Southern (19).
Tampa looks to redeem themselves, after a loss to Frostburg State, in their first conference matchup on Wednesday against Embry-Riddle.
