No. 5 Tampa Set to Host Two Home Matchups
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team continues home play as they host two matchups.
The Matchup: No. 5 University of Tampa (6-1) vs Colorado Mesa (7-1)
Date/Time: Monday, March 20, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.
Location: Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. 1120 West North A Street, Tampa, FL 33606
Series History: This will be the ninth meeting between the two programs, with the Spartans leading 5-4.
About the Spartans: Tampa comes into the matchup off a week break after sailing past Palm Beach Atlantic 19-4 on Monday. Owen Miller and Luke McAnaney put on stellar performances in that matchup, each recording five goals. Netminder Blake Ulmer recorded 12 saves, continuing his great season. The Spartans average 50.29 shots per game with 124 goals on the season. Tampa looks to end this week undefeated at home.
About the Maverick: The Mavericks come into this matchup after a 20-14 win against #20 Florida Tech on Saturday. The Mavs have an overall record of 7-1, and average 52.6 shots per game. Colorado Mesa is led by redshirt junior Jed Brummett, who has a team-leading 32 goals this season. The Mavs are looking to end their Florida tour with a win against Tampa on Monday night.
