
Tampa Drops Conference Matchup on the Road
WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No.3 ranked University of Tampa Spartans lacrosse team drops the second matchup of the season on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST QUARTER
The top 20 conference matchup began with high intensity from each team. The Tars found the back of the net within the first minute of the matchup, setting the tone for the remaining minutes of play. Harry Kilkowski capitalized off a back-and-forth play to put Tampa on the board and tie the game. Rollins scored their second goal about halfway through the quarter. Each team's defense shined in the first fifteen minutes, keeping the game close. The Tars netted another one with just under three minutes left in the quarter. The Spartans would head into the second behind a late man-up goal by Jackson Bashaw, cutting the Tars' lead to one.

SECOND QUARTER
The battle between the two teams would continue in the opening minutes of the second quarter. The Tars would open the scoring once again, building their lead to two goals. The Spartans would have some scoring chances, but both teams would remain scoreless for the next seven minutes after that early goal. Rollins built their lead to three goals with just over six minutes left before the half. The Tars netted another goal to extend their lead to four before Nick Papa sparked the Spartan offense with his late goal. However, the late push would leave Tampa with some work to do in the second half.

THIRD QUARTER
The second half would open with Tampa going up on a man advantage, behind an offsides penalty to the Tars. Rollins extended their lead to six goals with about seven minutes left in the quarter. Owen Miller and Daniel Fitzpatrick netted late goals to bring life back to the Tampa sideline. The Spartans found themselves in a five-goal deficit heading into the final 15 minutes.

The final 15 minutes began with a sense of urgency for both teams. Alex Poma netted one off of his face-off win to cut the Tars' lead to six goals. The Spartan's comeback efforts were just too late.
