Tampa to Host Colorado Mesa in Top 20 Matchup

TAMPA, Fla. – No. 4 Tampa will face No. 16 Colorado Mesa on Saturday night at Naimoli.

The Matchup: No. 4 University of Tampa (6-1, 0-0 SSC) No. 16 Colorado Mesa (3-1, 1-0 RMAC)

Series History: Tampa has won three straight versus Colorado Mesa and owns a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series.

About the Spartans: The Spartans rank amongst the top in a few different Sunshine State statistical categories. Tampa averages 15.14 goals per game which leads the SSC and currently allows a conference-best 8.79 goals against average. Canyon Birch has been a huge part of the Spartan's success on offense. Birch is the team leader in points and currently leads the conference in goals (25). Teammate, Andrew Milani is second on the team in points just three behind Birch. Milani has tallied 15 goals and a team-leading nine assists thus far. Defensively, Tampa has been very sound. Goalkeeper, Luca Mercaldo allows just 7.76 goals per game which again leads the SSC. The Spartans have been dominant on both sides of the ball and will look to continue it into the top 20 matchup.

About the Mavericks: Colorado has an overall record of 3-1 on the season. The Maverick's lone loss came at home to a ranked Maryville squad. Colorado Mesa comes to Florida for three matchups of which Tampa will be the first. While away from home, the Mavericks will face two SSC opponents in Tampa and Florida Southern before capping off its trip versus Flagler.
