
Alex Poma Named to the USILA/Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Tampa men's lacrosse student-athlete, Alex Poma, has been named to the USILA/Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week.
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2024 Division II Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 26. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their program's games this past week.
The list of honorees is as follows:
1. Trace McDonald, Attack, Flagler. 1 game, six goals, three assists, nine points, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Trace had a 9-point game vs #17 Colorado Mesa and almost led a comeback from 10-4 but came up short 12-11. He had 3 CTO and 3 GB too. He's been steady all year and just broke the 100-point club at Flagler College in 27 games.
2. Maxwell Streety, FOGO, Pace. One game, one goal, one point, eight ground balls, 16-17 faceoffs (.941). Streety dominated the X for No. 10 Pace in their 18-8 win over Franklin Pierce. In addition to only losing one faceoff (16-17), Streety also found the back of the net for the second time this season. Streety was also named NE10 Player of the Week.
3. Caleb Mulachy, FOGO, Belmont Abbey. Two games, two goals, two points, 43 ground balls, 48-55 faceoffs (.873). Won 20+ plus faceoffs in both games (now four straight)... had career-high ground balls against Lees-McRae... scored his first two goals of the season (one each game)...helped the Crusaders to a 2-0 week.
4. Hunter Holcomb, Attack, Colorado Mesa. Three games, eight goals, four assists, 12 points, five ground balls. Hunter helped pace the CMU offense through a 2-1 week versus #15 FL Southern, RV Flagler College, and #20 Westminster putting together a 12-point week on 8 goals and 4 assists.
5. Pete Abbes, Attack, Embry-Riddle. One game, five goals, three assists, eight points, two ground balls. Pete led Embry-Riddle with 5 goals and 3 assists for 8 points while scoring his 100 career points (only the 2nd player to do so in school history). The win is the first time Embry-Riddle has defeated Lynn.
6. Dylan Renner, Goalie, Adelphi. Two games, four ground balls, one caused turnover .682 save percentage, and seven goals allowed. Was the last line of defense for #4 Adelphi - posted a GAA of 4.77 for the week while collecting 15 saves over two unranked teams.
7. Joe Celentano, Midfield, Westminster. One game, two goals, five assists, seven points, one ground ball. Joe had 2 goals and 5 assists in a 12-13 loss to #17 Colorado Mesa.
8.. Peyton Leonard, LSM/Defense, Catawba. One game, one goal, one point three ground balls, and one caused turnover. Peyton had 1 goal, 3gbs, 1ct, 1 face-off win while man down, and shut out opponents #1 Middie. Was all over the field making plays.
9. Jack Sullivan, SSDM, UIndy. One game, one assist, one point, seven ground balls, two caused turnovers. As a short-stick defensive midfielder, he had 7GBs and 2CTs to go along with an assist.
10. Alex Poma, FOGO, Tampa. One game, one goal, one point, 10 ground balls, 19-28 faceoffs (.679). Poma earned SSC Specialist of the Week for the third time in 2024 after leading Tampa to a 16-11 victory over No. 5 Rollins. The grad student from Marietta, Georgia, won 19-of-28 face-offs in the win for a .679 winning percentage. Poma also gave the Spartans a game-high 10 groundballs and a goal in the win. This latest weekly award marks the fourth in his career.
