Tampa Men's Lacrosse Tabbed to Win SSC League Title

MELBOURNE, Fla. –  Sunshine State Conference men's lacrosse coaches select Tampa as the preseason favorite for 2025. With 49 points and seven first-place votes in the poll, a second consecutive regular-season championship is anticipated for the Spartans.

Coaches picked Florida Southern as the top contender to the Spartans in 2025, with 40 points and the final first-place vote. Rollins follows in third place with 38 points, while Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle close out the top five with 34 and 22 points, respectively. Saint Leo (20 points), Lynn (15 points), and Palm Beach Atlantic (7 points) hold positions six through eight in the preseason poll.

Last season, Tampa won its first third conference regular-season title in four seasons with a 7-0 record in SSC play. Rollins (5-2) and Florida Tech (4-3) followed the Spartans in the 2024 league table. The Spartans went on to win the program's eighth SSC postseason title by defeating Rollins in the championship game.

The Spartans earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Division II national tournament after the conference tournament. The Spartans won their first game 20-3 but fell by one goal in the national semifinals against Lenoir-Rhyne. In 2022, Tampa won the first men's lacrosse national title for the Sunshine State Conference. Before Tampa's run, Saint Leo's 2018 squad was the national runner-up. 

The 2025 season begins on Saturday, February 1st, with four SSC teams in action. Conference play starts on Saturday, March 8th, with Embry-Riddle hosting Florida Southern.
