Tampa to Host Ranked Opponent in Florida Southern

TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 2 Tampa Spartans host the No. 15 Florida Southern Moccasins in a non-conference matchup.

Series History: The Spartans have won 20 of 22 matchups against the Moccasins. Tampa averages over 14 goals per game against Florida Southern and has recorded double-digit goals in every meeting since 2012.

About the Spartans: The No. 2-ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team continues to showcase its early-season dominance, securing a strong Alumni Night victory over Flagler. The Spartans were explosive offensively, with Ryan Kemp, Tommy Ortega, and Grant Green each recording hat tricks, while Kemp notched his second consecutive four-goal game. Tampa leads the SSC with 31 goals, 15 assists, and 46 total points. Sunshine State Conference and USILA Team-Goalkeeper of the Week (2/3/2025), Connor Theriault, made 15 saves in the victory, boosting his save percentage to .632, the best in the SSC.

About the Moccasins: The beginning of the 2025 season has been not too kind to No. 15 Florida Southern, as the Mocs have hosted and fallen to No. 4 Limestone and No. 5 Wingate before traveling to face No. 2 Tampa. Florida Southern leads the SSC in faceoff win percentage with .692 (36 of 52) as well as 84 total ground balls 84, showing strength despite their early losses. The Mocs faceoff specialist, Jacob Czyz has now been named as the SSC Specialist of the Week both times this season.
