Series History: This marks the first-ever match-up between The University of Tampa Spartans and the Concordia Irvine University Golden Eagles.
About the Spartans: The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team remains the No. 2 ranked team in the nation after knocking off No. 3 Limestone. The Spartans made a clean sweep of the weekly Sunshine State Conference awards: Ryan Kemp taking home Offensive Player of the Week, Connor Theriault named Defensive Player of the Week, and Michael Flores as Specialist of the Week. Kemp notched 5 goals for the Spartans, including a hat trick in the first quarter, as well as an assist. This performance brings his season averages to 3.80 goals and 4.80 points per game. Theriault tallied 11 saves while facing 43 total shots for a .478 save percentage; Bringing his season save percentage to .596, second in the conference. Flores' 8 ground balls against Limestone is the 4th most in any SSC-related match this season, additionally, he was 20-for-26 in face-offs.
About the Golden Eagles: After having their second game of the season canceled, Concordia University Irvine sits at 1-2, with one of their losses coming narrowly this past Sunday, at familial foe Florida Southern. To begin only their second season at the Division II level, the Golden Eagles were voted to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference's Rocky Mountain Division Coaches Preseason Poll.
