Spartans Victorious Over No. 7 Saints
ST LOUIS, Mo. – Tampa takes down No. 7 Maryville to improve to 8-0 on the season as well as 3-0 against top-10 ranked teams.
How It Happened
- The Spartans offense started hot, scoring the game's first goal just forty-nine seconds in after Davis Lindsey found the back of the net.
- Tommy Ortega followed suit and tacked on a man-up goal to put Tampa up by two goals.
- Maryville would respond later on, but Lindsey would tally his second of the game after a beautiful feed from A.J. Pascarella to lead after one quarter of play.
- Tampa would continue to see different goal-scorers emerge in the game, with Ryan Kemp and Ronan Sanchez each scoring.
- Maryville and Tampa each finished the half with nineteen total shots, but the Spartans would lead by three goals.
- The Saints would be a threat to start the second half, cutting the Spartans' lead to just one.
- Lindsey would find Kemp for the Spartans' only goal of the quarter to put the team up by two.
- Much like the third quarter, the Saints would score the first two goals, which would put the two teams level.
- However, Grant Green would respond after a Gavin Bomstad assist.
- With the strong play of Connor Theriault in the net, along with the Spartans' defense, Tampa would never look back.
- Goals from Ortega and Lindsey would see Tampa through to a 9-6 victory.
