TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team took care of business back at home against the University of Indianapolis in the first ever matchup between the two programs.
How It Happened
- The two squads traded scoring throughout the first quarter as each team netted a pair of goals.
- Following a UIndy turnover, Tommy Ortega was able to kick off the scoring in the second quarter with an early goal – his first of the quarter – to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead.
- The Spartans would pull away in the second as they scored five unanswered to jump out to an 8-3 lead. Jackson Bashaw and Tommy Ortega would each score their second goals of the day while Grant Green, Davis Lindsey and Rex Kesselring would tally their first.
- Lindsey would notch back-to-back goals midway through the third quarter along with a late goal from Green in the closing minute of the quarter.
- Ronan Sanchez would score the only goal for the Spartans in the final frame as the Greyhounds would attempt to rally back but Tampa would hold on to win 12-8.

• Tampa will kick off Sunshine State Conference play next Saturday, March 22 as they will take on Florida Tech under the lights for Military Appreciation Day.
