Spartans Kick off Conference Play With a Win Over Florida Tech

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team opened up Sunshine State Conference play with commanding win over Florida Tech.

The Spartans would match their highest scoring effort of the season with 16 goals. Their previous highest scoring matchup was on February 8 as they also defeated Flagler 16-8.

How It Happened

  • Tampa scored the game's first goal, answered by a trio of goals from the visiting Florida Tech Panthers. In the opening 15 minutes, Davis Lindsey, Rafe Bradshaw and Zach Johnson hit the back of the net for the Spartans.
  • The Spartans offense would come to life in the second quarter as Johnson and Bradshaw would each tally their second goals on the night.
  • Sunshine State Conference leading goal scorer Ryan Kemp got on the board at the 8-minute mark remaining in the quarter. His goal pushed the Tampa lead to 6-3.
  • The Spartans outscored the Panthers 6-1 in the second quarter, taking a 9-4 edge into the halftime break.

  • Kemp led all players with five points (4 goals, 1 assist).
  • The Spartans collected 36 ground balls, A.J. Pascarella led the way with seven, while Dom Rottura and Davis Lindsey contributed four each.
  • Michael Flores (10-18), and Jordan Naso (8-10) helped Tampa win the faceoff battle on the night.
  • The Spartan offense kept the Panthers busy on defense as they recorded 48 shots on the night, 23 of those shots being on goal.
