No. 1 Men’s Lacrosse Remain Undefeated As They Down Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team fought off Rollins College in Sunshine State Conference play.

Tampa continues to dominate their SSC opponent as they lead the all-time series 16-1 — dating back to April 6, 2012. The Spartans only loss to the Tars was on April 1, 2023.

How It Happened

  • Tampa started off the game by jumping out to an early 5-1 advantage as five different Spartans would get on the board early. Davis Lindsey would net the first goal of the game as Tommy Ortega, Zack Friend and Ryan Kemp would follow. Jackson Bashaw would score just seconds in the second quarter to round out Tampa's 5-1 advantage on a man-up goal, assisted by Davis Lindsey.
  • The offense would come on all angles as both teams would find ways to score. Tampa would score four goals in each quarter as the offense found a steady rhythm.
  • Ten different Spartans would find the back of the net this weekend.
  • Connor Theriault would add to his save-total with 12 saves In the matchup.
  • Michael Flores (7-for-16) and Jordan Naso (5-for-13) would combine for 12 face off wins.

Spartan Performances

  • Lindsey had a solid day as he added five ground balls and a caused turnover to go with his goal.
  • Six Spartans had a pair of goals in today's matchup.
  • Rex Kesselring would contribute a goal while also adding three ground balls.
  • The Spartan offense kept the Tars busy on defense as they recorded 49 shots on the day, 23 of those shots being on goal.
