Tampa Moves to 15–0 After Thwarting Embry-Riddle
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team remained undefeated on Senior Day, defeating No. 14 Embry-Riddle 13–4. With the win, the Spartans improved to 16–0 overall and 7–0 in Sunshine State Conference play, continuing their dominant run through the regular season.
How It Happened
- Jackson Bashaw opened the scoring for Tampa midway through the first quarter, and after an Embry-Riddle goal.
- The Spartans closed out the first with a 2-1 advantage.
- Tampa erupted for seven unanswered goals in the second quarter, the completion of Ryan Kemp's first half hat trick, building a 9–1 halftime lead.
- The Spartan defense didn't allow an Embry-Riddle score for over 28 minutes during the middle of the match.
- Both teams added one in the third quarter.
- The Eagles would commit 16 total turnovers.
- Tommy Ortega's fourth quarter goal gave the Spartans their largest lead of the day at 12-3.
- Eight different Spartans would find the back of the net.
- The Spartans dominated possession, outshooting the Eagles 47–18 and winning 14 of 20 faceoffs.
