Bracket Announced, Spartans Claim Top Seed for SSC Tournament
MELBOURNE, Fla. - [MLAX Tournament Page] - The Sunshine State Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament, presented by Pollo Campero, opens with quarterfinal action on Saturday, April 19th. Higher seeds will host throughout this year's tournament and broadcast live via the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network.
Following the program's eighth SSC regular-season title, Tampa captures the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. The Spartans went 7-0 in league play, 16-0 overall, and unanimously hold the No. 1 ranking in the USILA national poll. Lynn is awarded the No. 2 seed after a 5-2 conference mark and besting Rollins head-to-head.
Embry-Riddle (4-3) grabs the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Saint Leo (3-4) on Saturday. The Eagles outlasted the Lions, 11-10, in triple overtime on April 5th in Saint Leo. Rollins (5-2) earns the No. 3 seed and welcomes in No. 6 Florida Tech (2-5). The Tars defeated the Panthers, 10-9, in Melbourne on April 12th.
Since men's lacrosse became a league sport in 2014, an SSC team has made the NCAA tournament every season. Last year, the Spartans earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Division II national tournament after the conference tournament. The Spartans won their first game 20-3 but fell by one goal in the national semifinals against Lenoir-Rhyne. In 2022, Tampa won the first men's lacrosse national title for the Sunshine State Conference. Before Tampa's run, Saint Leo's 2018 squad was the national runner-up.
