Clete Goddard is in his fourth season as an assistant coach, where he works with developing goalkeepers.

Goddard was a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans. As a senior, he played in one game during the season and recorded seven minutes versus Peidmont (9/6) He later moved on to serve as a student assistant coach to conclude season.

As a junior, he appeared in four games for the Spartans and started one against Nova Southeastern (10/6). He logged a total of 163 minutes while only allowing one goal and played nine minutes in goal during the SSC quarterfinals against Nova Southeastern (11/2). His season debut was at Johnson and Wales (9/10) and he collected a season-high six saves versus Nova Southeastern (10/6). As a sophomore, Goddard appeared in three games for the Spartans while starting in a pair and made his first collegiate start against Webber International (10/7). He racked up a total of 195 minutes while registering a shutout in both starts. His other shutout came in match with Johnson & Wales (10/26) as he also earned 15 minutes in goal versus Saint Leo (10/29) in an SSC contest.

After redshirting in 2007, he appeared in three games throughout the 2008 season while racking up 86 minutes. His first collegiate appearance came against Florida College (9/8) as he also played against Lynn (10/1) and Johnson & Wales (10/20).

Prior to attending UT, he had a career record of 42-10-5 while playing for head coaches Mike Rowan and Scott Ware at Wharton High School. His play helped the school to the district title in 2006. Wharton also advanced to the regional tournament three of the four years in high school. He concluded his prep career with 16 career shutouts and was a member of the 2006 Super Y League National Champions with fellow Spartan Andrej Gulan. He set school records for most saves in a season with 139, best GAA in a season with 0.76 and best career GAA with a 1.23. He also helped his HC United club team to a national championship.

Goddard is also active in the youth soccer community, serving as a volunteer coach from 2003-07 with local soccer associations and also working several summer camps.
