Tampa Concludes Season in NCAA Tournament at Lynn
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 23 University of Tampa (10-6-1) men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 11 Lynn University (15-3-1), ending its 2012 season at the NCAA South Regional.
Following a scoreless first half, Lynn's Julian Halder netted the eventual game-winner at 48:12. The goal was headed as the cross landed under the top cross bar for the lone score of the afternoon.
The Fighting Knights outshot the Spartans 17-5 on the game, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Tyler Blackwood and Alex Knaggs each had a shot on target for UT.
David Niepel finished with five saves for the Spartans.
Tampa ends its 2012 campaign with 10 victories, improving its win total from three in the 2011 season. UT defeated three nationally ranked team in 2012 and also earned major Sunshine State Conference hardware with the Coach, Player and Offensive Player of the Year.
