Tampa Set to Entertain SSC Opponent Saint Leo
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team hosts Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo University at 7 p.m., on Tuesday at Pepin Stadium.
Tampa is coming off a 3-2 victory at Eckerd College this past Saturday night. The Spartans enter the match with a 6-4-2 overall record and a 2-3 record in the SSC.
Junior Tyler Blackwood enters the match leading the Spartans with 11 goals and 27 points overall. Fellow classmate Alex Knaggs has supported the team well this season with two goals and five assists to show for his efforts. Freshman John Bentham has also contributed with a team-high seven assists.
The Lions come into the game with an overall record of 9-1-1 and rank second in the SSC with a 3-0-1 record. Saint Leo is coming off a 2-1 victory at home against SSC foe Florida Southern.
Freshman forward Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel has been the star of the Lions this season with a team-leading five goals. Lukas Cramer and Javeim Blanchette have also contributed with four goals each.
Tampa is 30-8 in the all-time series with Saint Leo as UT enjoyed a 5-0 victory when the teams last met in the 2012 season at Pepin Stadium.
Tickets are available at the gate for $5. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free. UT faculty, staff and students are admitted free when displaying a valid Spartan ID card.
