
Spartans Prepare To Battle Tars In SSC Weekly Matchup
TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Spartans men's soccer team welcomes the Rollins Tars on Wednesday to for a mid-week Sunshine State Conference match-up.
UT enters the contest with a record of 4-2-0, (1-0) and riding a three-game win streak. Last time out the Spartans knocked off Nova Southeastern thanks to a late PK by Keith Francisco in the 80' minute. RC comes in sporting a record of (2-3) coming off back to back wins over Alabama-Huntsville and Southeastern.
Tampa boasts the no.2 scoring offense in the SSC tallying 3.00 goals per game. UT is also ranked no.9 in the country in shots per game averaging 20.50 per game. Leading the way offensively is Francisco with four goals and eight points. Other key contributors include Troy Tucker with two goals, and Jason Collister who has recorded a goal and an assist.
Defensively Christian Knight, and his squad lead all SSC teams with 5.00 saves per game. Knight has also posted a .741 save % and a 1.13 goals against average which ranks fifth in the SSC, Tampa also leads the conference in fouls per game with a 9.83 tally. The back line for UT is manned by sophomore Bryan Tissot and freshman Ramzi Toure. Who as a defensive unit have only given up six goals on the season, this is a direct product of their aggressive, uptempo playstyle.
