UT Ranked 7th in Week 4 NSCAA Top 25
The team continues its rise in the national rankings after extending its unbeaten run against Rollins
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After extending its unbeaten start to the season with their draw against Rollins, the Spartans have continued their rise in the Top 25 as released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America today and are now in the Top 10, moving up eight spots from last week's rankings and now hold the 7th spot. This places UT as the highest ranked Sunshine State Conference team for this week's rankings.
The team had only one matchup last week as they traveled to Winter Park, Fla. to take on #22 Rollins College midweek. Against the Tars, Tampa midfielder Lewis Sugden scored the first goal of the game in the 6th minute and the final goal of the game in the 80th minute. Senior Jason Collister scored his sixth goal of the season in the 33rd minute to complete the three for Tampa. UT and RC went back and forth and neither side was able to find a game-winner in extra time as the match ended 3-3 in 2OT.
Teams that are also ranked that are on the schedule for the Spartans this season include Barry University (11th), Lynn University (15th) and Florida Tech (24th). Palm Beach Atlantic was named among those also receiving votes with one vote.
This week, the team has a pair of matches as they host Florida Southern tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. and will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. on Saturday to take on Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m.
