Tampa captured the program's eighth NCAA South Region championship.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After winning the NCAA South Regional and advancing to the national quarterfinals, the University of Tampa men's soccer team was selected at No. 9 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll of 2016.
Tampa finished the season with a 13-5-3 overall record, which included victories over five nationally-ranked opponents. UT fell to eventual national champion Wingate in the quarterfinals by a 1-0 score.
The Spartans captured the program's eighth NCAA South Regional championship with wins over then-No. 11 Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 4 Lynn. The regional title was the school's first since 2009 and third under head coach Adrian Bush.

UT was the highest ranked South Region team, as a total of four region teams were included in the final rankings. Sunshine State Conference opponent Lynn followed at No. 11, while provisional SSC member Palm Beach Atlantic was No. 15 and SSC foe Florida Tech was No. 25.
