TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team won their home opener against the Chowan Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: The lone goal of the first half occurred in the13th minute as Carlos Ledon found the back of the net after assists by both Omar Thali and Juancho Fernandez. Tampa outshot Chowan in the half 5-2, including two shots on goal. Score: 1-0 Tampa
SECOND HALF: The second half of the game was back and forth between the two teams. The Spartans outshot the Hawks by a margin of 17-4, including 10 shots on goal. Overall, the goal by Ledon early in the first half would prove to be the game winner. Final: 1-0 Tampa
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Fernandez had a team leading four shots, with three on goal
- Omar Thali and Travis Foster each added three shots of their own
- Four different Spartans played for the full 90 minutes: Albert Morales, Nico Gamio, Sean Quinn, and Cody Wells.
- Zach Bahr started in goal for the Spartans, playing all 90 minutes to receive the shutout victory.
