Florida State Relays a Success for Tampa Runners
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of Tampa track team also competed at the Florida State University Relays over the weekend, reaching a number of personal bests throughout several races.
Kelly Hagan began Friday in the 1,500, running in 4:42. Chantalle Blundell then competed in the steeple chase, finishing in 11:45.
In the men's 5K, Geremy DeWitt registered a new personal record with a 15:28. Matt Hoffman then won the second heat with a new personal record of 15:48. Kyle Taylor was second with a 15:56, notching a new personal-best time for the senior.
The women's 5K was paced by Tampa's Vanessa Righeimer, with her top-ever time of 17:42. Elaina Cancello finished in 18:59 as her sister, Claudia Cancello, logged a 19:02.
In the 10K, Danielle Kissel ran a personal-best time of 38:07, while Ronni Mercier paced at 19:21. Mike Zwijacz finished the race in 34:00. Brendan McGonagle also turned in a time of 16:38 in the 5K.
The Spartans will be at a pair of races next weekend, sending runners to both the Raleigh Relays (N.C.) and the University of North Florida Invite.
