Tampa Track Dominates at Tri-Meet

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams hosted the Tampa Tri-Meet on Saturday evening, welcoming opponents Florida Southern College and Saint Leo University to Pepin Stadium.

Top Performers (Men)

  • The Spartans won the 800 Meter SMR with a time of 2:22.14. The winning group included Maurice Gentry, Jake Swad, Austin James and Shane Cohen.
  • A pair of Spartans finished second and third respectively in the 1,500 Meter Race in Walker Hirsch (4:15.67) and Riley Corcoran (4:16.57).
  • Corcoran was also third in the 600 after finishing in 2:00.99.
  • Swad registered a first-place effort of 11.68 in the 100 as Gentry was third at 11.76.
  • UT took 1-2 in the 400 Meters, led by James (52.72) and Brendan Kafka (52.99).
  • Cohen set a new UT school record while qualifying for the NCAA National Championships as he won the 800 with a time of 1:49.19 while Hirsch was third at 2:04.62.
  • Tampa won the 4x100 Meter Relay in 46.14, championed by Gentry, Kafka, James and Swad.
  • Swad was the 200 Meter champion after finishing in 24.05, followed by Gentry (24.06) and Kafka (24.15).
  • UT's Trevor Kattenberg was second overall in the 5,000 Meters at 14:46.06.
  • Tampa won the 4x400 Meter Relay in 3:40.59 with Cohen, Jon Gill, Brendan Kafka and James.

Top Performers (Women)

  • Senior Kei Riley took the 400 Meter Hurdles, registering a time of 1:10.77. Teammate Shannon Connelly was second at 1:15.35.
  • Julia Lockridge turned in a third-place finish in the 1,500 Meter Race, with the graduate student finishing in 4:54.91.
  • Manon Blackman was second in the 600 at 2:30.26, followed by Lockridge at 2:30.34.
  • UT swept the top three in the 100 as Nicole Sullivan won with a time of 13.24. Michelle Masi was second at 13.45 while Kaitlin Hefty placed third at 13.54.
  • Zahra Wilson won the 400 Meter Race in 1:00.87. Macie Sisson was second at 1:00.98 while Leanne Killmeyer was third at 1:02.83.
  • Lockridge finished in third-place in the 800 after finishing in 2:24.48.
  • The 4x100 Meter Relay went to the Spartan team of Masi, Sullivan, Riley and Hefty. The winning time was 51.57.
  • All-American Zoe Jarvis was the champion of the 5,000 Meter Race with a time of 17:37.32. Sydney Rhodes was third at 18:14.65.
  • Sullivan was second in the 200 with a time of 26.78 as Riley was third at 27.29.
  • The Spartans won the 4x400 Meter Relay in 4:11.81 with Sisson, Riley, Noelle O'Regan and Wilson as the winning team. UT also took second in the race.
