Spartans Set Four School Records as Men, Women Win Sunshine State Invite

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams both finished first overall at the Sunshine State Invitational, with the Spartan men bringing home four new school records.

Top Performances

• UT's men won with a total of 164 points, topping Saint Leo (71), Florida Southern (61), Lynn (59), Palm Beach Atlantic (32), Nova Southeastern (8) and Florida Tech (2).
• The Spartans also finished as the top women's team with 143 points, placing ahead of  Saint Leo (110), Florida Southern (51), Lynn (30), Palm Beach Atlantic (20) and Nova Southeastern (10).
• The first school record of the Sunshine State Invite was established in the  4x100 Relay with first-place time of 42.76. The record-holding team included Khalil Snell, Maurice Gentry, John Trombley and Jacob Swad.
• Shane Cohen set two individual school records,  breaking his own school record in the 400 Meters with a 48.27. He also claimed a school record in the 200 Meters with a first-place finish of 22.28 to break the previous record that was set in 2012.
• The final school record of the Invite came in the 4x400 Relay with a first-place finish and time of 3:22.24 from Jon Gill, John Trombley, Ethan Ehrlich and Shane Cohen.
