
Tampa Track Competes in Program's First Indoor Meet
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams opened their 2023 season with the school's first-ever performance at an indoor meet. The Spartans would finish among top runners in several events at the Alachua County Collegiate Invitational.
The two-day event took place at the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville.
Top Spartan Performers (Men)

Jared Hammill was the top Spartan in the mile, being timed at 4:28.47.

UT was led by Ayden Morales in the 600 as he was 10th with a 1:25.20 effort.

Aaron Engelhardt was third in the 5,000, as he was clocked at 15:07.93. GioVenchy Cerisier was fifth while Caleb Belmont made it three Spartans in the top-10 at number eight.

Joey Coulter (50.19) and John Trombley (50.65) finished fourth and sixth respectively in the 400.

In the 3,000, George Alexander starred as he finished fourth with an effort of 8:22.69. That time outpaced the men's outdoor school record.
Top Spartan Performers (Women)

Taylor Guthrie was ninth in the mile with a time of 5:32.75.

Zahra Wilson and Elizabeth York were both top-10 in the 600, at eighth and ninth. Their times were 1:45.44 and 1:46.42 respectively. They were also 1-2 in their heat.

Three Spartans finished inside the top-10 in the 300, led by Camilla Nicholas in fifth (42.15). Following were Lillian Hicks in sixth and Allison Murphy in ninth.

Hannah Capel was seventh in the 3,000, as she finished the race in 10:17.22. Tabitha Suggs followed in eighth place as she also won her heat.
