Gabe McConville Honored as SSC Distance Runner of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa men's track runner Gabe McConville has been announced as the Sunshine State Conference Distance Runner of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.

McConville was victorious in the 800 meters at the Tampa Classic last week. The senior from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, outpaced a field of 36 runners in the event, finishing with an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.61. In relays, McConville ran leadoff in UTampa's 4x400 A-team victory (3:22.31).

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 3 - 9, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
