NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team is ranked eighth in the nation after being seventh in the previous US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA II Poll.
The Spartans, who were ranked seventh in the initial poll, have competed in three races in the 2008 season. UT began the season with a first place performance among 11 teams at the UT Early Bird Classic.
Tampa then finished third at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational and second at the Florida State Invitational. Both races featured several NCAA Division I schools.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday at the Disney Classic. The race will be held at the Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee.
