
Spartans Tabbed Ninth Heading Into Cross Country Regionals
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team was tabbed ninth in the nation as it remains in the top-10 in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA II Poll.
The Spartans, who were ranked seventh in the initial poll, have competed in five races in the 2008 season. UT began the season with a first place performance among 11 teams at the UT Early Bird Classic and most recently won the Sunshine state Conference championship, which it hosted at Brandon Trails.
Tampa then finished third at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational and second at the Florida State Invitational. Both races featured several NCAA Division I schools.
UT also finished fourth overall at the Disney Classic. The race featured 44 teams and 353 runners as UT was the top finisher among NCAA II teams.
The Spartans now head to Searcy, Ark., where it will compete in the NCAA South Regional on Saturday, November 8.
