
UT Women Ranked 13th In National Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team is No. 13 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Preseason Poll. The Spartans opened the season at No. 12.
The Spartan women are also ranked as the No. 1 team in the South Region while the UT men carry a No. 5 ranking the region.
Tampa finished eighth in the final poll of the 2008 season and was 14th at the NCAA Championships. UT was ranked as high as No. 7 last year, representing the highest ranking in school history.
The Spartan women are coming off a second place finish at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational as UT finished ahead of 21 teams, including several notable NCAA Division I teams. Tampa also has a pair of first-place finishes, winning the Early Bird Classic and Florida Tech Invitational.
Tampa returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Evansville, Ind., for the Pre-Nationals.
